Hi, it's me, Sashina. As you know, there has been several rough spots in my friendship with Gianna. Our fight, her supposed death, how Jen turned against me. I've stayed strong with her through everything, but I'm wondering if any of it was worth what happened...
Gianna and I used to always do the most fun things together. We loved to cook and ride bikes, and many other things. But today I had Gia over, and all she wanted to do was show me her magazines. What's the point of that? I mean, when she comes over, we're supposed to do the things we always loved to do. When I told Gia I didn't want to look at the magazines, she just left. I had to make the Mother's Day cookies by myself- without Gianna. Without someone to laugh with. Without my best friend since forever.
I knew then that Gianna was not the best friend I could ever have. But the problem was, now that Jennette wasn't my friend anymore, I had no friends to be besties with. That was when I wondered what the last F in BFF REALLY stood for...

I guess that I like the new girl in school. I don't know her name, though. I think it's something like Bailey, or Brittany. or something like that. She just came in today. Gianna had paired up with this girl Valerie (who, in truth, I think is really snobby) so I had nobody to pair with. Then I saw the new girl just standing there. She didn't have a partner either. So we pair up for the Mothers day thing. I have no idea what we're going to do for our craft. I'll leave that to the new girl. She seemed really artistic.

I had to hand in the Mother's day treats today. I brought the cookies I was supposed to make [with Gianna], along with some truffles I made, and some nut bars that I "made" (really, they were just Snickers bars and I "made" them by unwrapping them. I'm not THAT good of a cook). Mrs. MacPine put them in the school fridge to keep them good. "I think our Mother's Day stuff is going great!" said the new girl. (her name was Bethany, by the way. She hates that name, though, and everyone has to call her Kiwi. Long story.) "I've got a great idea for the craft," Kiwi continued. "We're going to..."
"Wow!" I exclaimed. "Great idea! That is JUST the thing moms like." Honestly, could Kiwi have come up with a better craft! Her idea fit in well with the *display your creativity* thing, too. I think I could be great friends with Gianna Kiwi.
WHY did I write that name? I don't want to admit it, but Gia and me are over. We just don't have the same interests anymore. I think she feels the same way, considering she paired with *Valerie*. I'm a little upset that Gi likes VALERIE better than me...
No, I'm not jealous. I have a great new friend, Kiwi. Whatever. I don't care about Gianna anymore.

Thursday! Craft day. I hope Kiwi got the... I'm sorry, I can't tell you. I just hope she got the SUPPLIES. I'm going to Kiwi's after school today so we can do our craft. We had a great time. "That was fun," I told Kiwi when I left. "We should definitely get together over the weekend. This time, at my house!" Kiwi nodded. I could tell she was really happy about getting a new friend so early when she was new here only like four days ago. She's really nice but not as perfect for me as Gianna was.... Oh, please. Gianna has a new best friend now, *Valerie*. Kiwi is so much better than Gia. (Can I even use my old nicknames for Gianna anymore?) I know Kiwi would never betray me like that. I wonder why she IS called Kiwi. She never told us.

Finally Saturday! Kiwi came over today. Everything was SO hectic and we needed to get our final plan all ready. Kiwi came up with the basic idea and I love it. We even found a way to get displaying our craft into the plan! We still need a red tablecloth, though. I wonder what we can do.
May 9
It's a day before Mother's Day AND I'M NOT SURE OUR PLAN IS GOING TO WORK! Kiwi is so busy on Sundays that we couldn't get together. I was freaking out so much. Normally I would talk to my Mom about this, but it has to be a total surprise for her. I'm afraid if I try to talk about it to her, our surprise would accidentally slip out. So I kept stuff to myself. Where on earth are we going to get a red tablecloth?
May 10: Mother's Day
It's Mother's Day!!!!!!!!!! I am the most worried person ever right now. Mom is coming to school, along with Mrs. Joice (Kiwi's mom), Mrs. Farrah (Valerie's mom), and Mrs. Pitlick (GIANNA'S MOM). I'm a little worried because I don't know what Mrs. Pitlick will say. I haven't spoken to her since Gia dumped me. The first sentence she ever said to me was, "We're friends, Sashina. Call me Olive." I don't know if I can call her Olive anymore because I'm not sure we're friends anymore, considering Gianna's not. Mom, Mrs. Joice, Kiwi, and I went into the room where Kiwi and I had set up our Mother's Day project. I was amazed. Kiwi had managed to find a red tablecloth! She had also set our crafts on the table. The crafts we made were vases that we had painted ourselves, one for Mrs. Joice and one for Mom. We also had put real flowers in them. Mom and Mrs. Joice sat down in two of the four chairs at our table. Kiwi carried out a plate of dumplings I had taught her to make. (It turns out Kiwi loves cooking, too!) I followed her with dessert. I brought out the cookies, the truffles, and the "nut bars" (Snickers, of course). I guess it all was great, because our moms LOVED it. They loved the food, the loved the vases, they loved the "fancy restaurant" service, and they just loved the overall service of it. On our way home (we all drove together), I asked Kiwi why she was called Kiwi instead of Bethany. Instead of going all quiet like I expected, Kiwi laughed. "Well, you know how our name is Joice?" Kiwi began. "People were always getting mixed up and thinking our last name was Juice. Juice was even printed on my brother's football jersey for his last name.
"I also hated my name. Bethany! It's such a weird name. My parents wanted my nickname to be Beth. Why couldn't they have just named me Elizabeth, then? More and more people got our last name wrong. I became Bethany Juice at school, and my parents were Mr. and Mrs. Juice. It was enough to drive us crazy!
"Then my mom finally got fed up. 'I have an idea,' she said. 'Let's make up a nickname for Bethany! She hates her name, anyway. Why don't we call her the name of a fruit? Nobody will think her first name is a fruit and her last name is Juice.'
"Everyone liked that idea. They started to mention fruits. 'Apple?' 'Pear?' 'Nectarine!' 'Cherry!' 'Yeah, Cherry!' 'That's good!' They all thought Cherry was good, but I didn't like it. 'I know!' I finally shouted. 'Kiwi!'
"Everyone loved the idea. And my mom was right. Nobody ever thought my name was Kiwi Juice, and nobody calls me Bethany anymore."
The End.
